Though the official name of this mysterious hotel is Ryugyong, it is also known as Yu-kyung. Built in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, this 330 meter high hotel has a total of 105 rooms. But till date no one has stayed here. It is called ‘Shapit Hotel’ or ‘Haunted Hotel’. Apart from this, it is also known by the name ‘105 Building’. A few years ago, the American magazine Esquire called this hotel the worst building in human history.

A total of about 55 billion rupees were spent in building this hotel, which was two percent of North Korea’s GDP at that time. This hotel was being made the world’s tallest hotel, but it was recognized as the world’s tallest deserted building. That’s why its name is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is said that if it had been completely built on time, it would have been known as the seventh tallest building and the tallest hotel in the world.
construction work was not completed
The work of making it started in the year 1987. According to BBC, the construction of this hotel was expected to be completed in 2 years, but it did not happen. Sometimes there was a problem with the way of making it and sometimes with the ingredients. Finally, its construction had to be stopped in the year 1992, because at that time North Korea’s economy was also not good.

However, in the year 2008, the work of making it was started again. According to media reports, the administration of North Korea had said that the hotel would be ready in 2012, but this time also it could not happen.
